A man was seriously injured in a knife attack near the Holocaust installation in Berlin.

Police said at X at approximately 18:00 local time (17:00 GMT), adding that the investigations into what happened were “continuing”.

According to the newspaper Tagesspiegel, the officers had cordoned off the site and conducted a search.

The police are searching for the suspect, who is also a man who believed he escaped from the scene of the accident.

It is not clear whether the victim, who was transferred to the hospital, had no life -threatening wounds, was known to the attacker.

Police say they do not know any alleged motive, and an interview is made with many witnesses.

They also say they do not know exactly what weapons are.

The knife attack appears to have occurred on the northern side of the memorial – opposite the American embassy sitting.
