According to META, Meta is tested an internal chip for training artificial intelligence systems, which is part of a strategy to reduce its dependence on devices such as NVIDIA.

According to ReutersThe Meta chip, which was designed to deal with AI’s work burden, was manufactured in partnership with Taiwan -based TSMC. The company is experimenting with a “small post” of the slide and plans to increase production if the test succeeds.

Meta has published AI chips before, but only to play models – do not train them. Reuters also notes, many of the company’s chips design or re -expanded their scope have been canceled after failing to meet internal expectations.

Meta expects $ 65 billion on capital expenditures this year, most of which will go towards NVIDIA GPU. If the company can reduce a small part of this cost by switching into chips at home, it will be a great victory for the social media giant.
