Bluesky adds a mentions tab in the notifications screen and username protection
Social network Bluesky It has released a new update to its app that includes a separate tab for mentions in notifications, protection against username theft, and new controls for sorting responses.
The company announced that it is adding a new mentions tab with v1.96 to allow you to see those posts separately. Until now, all notifications were under one tab.
Bluesky also adds protection against username hijacking by reserving your original Bluesky username with (.bsky.social suffix) when you change your username to a custom domain. The platform said it only keeps the most recent Bluesky username, and it does not expire.
A recent incident It showed that the company had problems with impersonation when people bought domain names and kept usernames in the names of known people who might not be on the platform yet. People also used to create a separate account while switching to a custom domain to prevent anyone from taking their original Bluesky username.
Bluesky also adds a way to display replies below the post. Users can choose between linear and threaded views. They can also sort the responses using different filters such as hot, oldest, newest, most liked, and random.
