Former South Korean minister blamed for suicide attempts due to martial law

Former South Korean Defense Minister Kim Jong-hyun, who claimed responsibility for the president’s failed attempt to place the country under martial law last week, attempted suicide, an official said.

Shin Young-hae, head of the Justice Ministry’s corrections agency, told lawmakers that authorities found him trying to make an attempt at his detention center on Tuesday.
