“It’s in your head”: Eddie Hearn Tunts Keyshawn Davis on Andy Cruz
Promoter Eddie Hearn says he spoke to Keshawn Davis last night and was “done” about Andy Cruz following the Cuban talent’s victory over Omar Salcedo at the Cosmopolitan Las Vegas.

Hearn reminded Keshawn that he fought Cruz four times in the amateurs and lost every time. He told Davis he had “mental block” Of those losses and the memories haunt her. I did something to him.
5-0 and a nightmare
The 2020 Olympic gold medalist (5-0, 2 KOS) is being tracked for a world title shot and is being matched against talented opposition for a belt quickly.
He made Salcido (20-2, 14 KOS) look easy last night, besting it via a 10-round unanimous decision by scores of 99-91, 98-92 and 98-92. Salcido is a very good fighter, but he was out of his league against Cruz.
“I was hooking up with Keyshawn. I love him. He was like, ‘You know I beat him.’ [Andy Cruz]. You know I hit him. I said, buddy, it’s in your head. You have a mental block with Andy Cruz. You know you can’t hit him. She fought him four times, and never beat him. “Well, that was in the amateurs.” “Look, you’re angry again.” Eddie Hearn said IFL TVdiscussing his conversation with Keyshawn Davis about how Cuban talent troubles Andy Cruz.
“Andy is great. I think people forget how good Salcido is too. I think he will get better and better against better opposition,” Hearn continued about Cruz. “I think sometimes he takes off when he’s bored when he knows how easy it is, and it’s really good.
“IBF,” Hearn said when asked where Cruz would move. “If Loma retires, it will be Abdululev against Muratala, where that is anyway for the order, and Andy is next.”
Andy Cruz vs. Raymond Muratala vs. Zor Abdullah winner will be a good fight, but it won’t be any more competitive than last night’s opponent, Omar Salcedo. Muratalla is just a one-hander with one weapon, his right hand. Cruz will teach him.
Abdullaev will not be a competition at all. They may also hand the IBF belt to Cruz if he faces the winner of the Muratalla vs. Abdullaev fight. The top ranked would likely resist allowing Muratala to clear Cruz if he had his hands on the IBF belt.
“It depends on Keyshawn Davis.” “You will fight Kishon [WBO lightweight champion Denys] Princhic [next]. This is an easy fight. So, he wins that and becomes the WBO world champion.
“Tell me another fight in the lightweight division outside of Tank,” Hearn said when the interviewer mentioned Teofimo Lopez’s name as an option for KeyShawn to fight after he captured the WBO Lightweight title from Bebinchyk on February 14.
Duck cruise?
It’s the same with the Muratalla-Abdullaev fight. Top Rank is promoting Keyshawn Davis, and they wouldn’t want to let him fight Andy Cruz, knowing his chances of losing would be high. They’re trying to turn Keyshawn into their next star with careful matchmaking.
Furthermore, he has repeatedly refused to fight Cruz. Therefore, it is not only Rank 1 that does not want this battle. Keyshawn will have to be dragged into the ring for a fight against Cruz because he knows his career will be permanently over if he fights him. Keyshawn is a classic example of a hype function. Let’s get to it.
Fighting Cruz was a highlight of what Keyshawn is, and he will fight that fight with every ounce of energy he has. A higher rank would probably help. If Keyshawn gets his hands on the WBO belt next month, he will vacate it if Cruz becomes his mandatory challenger and the fight is ordered. This is my expectation.
“There are two fights that people will say, ‘I’m more interested in Andy Cruz.’ That’s Tank, which I don’t think will happen this year, and Shakur,” Hearn continued. “This is it [Keyshawn] Best companion. They will never fight. Tell me a more interesting, better narrative, more competitive fight than Keyshawn Davis vs. Andy Cruz. “
The easy way
Hearn is right. Cruz is the best fight out there for Keyshawn, but he’s wrong if he thinks that will happen. Eddie is not American, and he doesn’t know people from the United States well. Keyshawn is easy to read. He wants a life and easy money, and he will never fight Cruz again.
“So, for me, I think it’s a natural fight. They’ve fought four times. Andy Cruz has won every time,” Hearn said. “He calls him his son, and the buildup is going to be great. It’s a great fight, and it’s a 50-50 fight. Keyshawn looks really good. He has great experience in the pros now, and Andy only has five fights under his belt. “
Cruz will make Keyshawn look like a pure duck that fans will notice. He will always look like a No. 2. It doesn’t matter how much a better rank maneuvers to make him look better than he is.
“Andy just beat Salcedo tonight. [Antonio] Moran last time. “He moves fast, and he’s a hell of a talent,” Hearn said.
