Julian Codorniu of Felix Capital will join 20VC as General Partner

Only a few weeks later 20VC TechCrunch has announced its third investment vehicle, and has learned from multiple sources that the relatively new London-based venture capital firm is gaining a new general partner. Julian Codorniu is leaving Felix CapitalHe has been a founding advisor since 2015 and a partner since 2021, joining 20VC and focusing on early-stage investments.

Harry Stebbings launched 20VC as a venture capital extension of the podcast series that bears his name. on 20VC Podcastspends 20 minutes interviewing CEOs and operators in the technology space.

Just as Stebbings interviews are now much longer than 20 minutes, the 20VC box has also become larger over time. In 2020, he raised a micro-fund of $8.3 million so that he could participate in early rounds without necessarily leading them.

In 2021, 20VC closed a A $140 million fund. For its third fund, 20VC managed just that Securing $400 million. About $125 million of this fund is allocated to seed investments and $275 million will be allocated to Series A rounds.

Because there are few acquisitions and fewer IPOs in Europe these daysRaising $400 million in today’s technology environment can be considered an accomplishment. It also proves that Stebbings has built a successful media platform that can be leveraged for technology investments with positive network impacts.

Over the past few months, 20VC has been growing its team so it can deploy the capital it has raised. In addition Kieran Hillwhich joined as a primary partner in 2021, Paul Bonnet (general partner) and Alexander Dewees (Partner) left DST Global and Eurazeo respectively earlier this year to focus on Series A (and later) investments for 20VC.

Julian Codorniu is the newest addition to the team. He will be 20VC’s third general partner and will focus on seed investments. This will be a change of pace for him, as Felix Capital usually leads later-stage funding rounds.

As part of Felix Capital, he participated in funding rounds at Pigment, Agave, Omada, TechWolf, and Prediko. He has also been a business angel, investing his own money in Bloom & Wild, Xentral, Homesome, Olio, Peanut, Nabla, Curio, Bits, and Sunday.

As an angel investor, he also had to interact with Stebbings as they both invested in TripleDot Studios, BeReal and Linktree.

Prior to his work at VC, Codorniou spent 11 years working at Facebook (now meta). In particular, he oversaw Workplace, Facebook’s communication platform for enterprise clients.
