Part of the explosive convoy of a “fake terrorist plot”

Australian police said a convoy found packed with explosives in Sydney outer earlier this year was part of the “fabricated terrorist plot” that was prepared by criminals.

The convoy, which was found in the northwest of Sydney on January 19, contained adequate explosives to produce an explosion 40 meters, in addition to a note that displayed anti -Semitic messages and a list of Jewish temples.

Its discovery, after a series of anti -Semitic attacks in Australia, caused widespread panic.

But on Monday, Australian Federal Police (AFP) revealed that they knew “almost immediately” that the convoy “was basically a criminal job.”

Chrisi Barrett, Deputy National Security Commissioner at Agence France -Presse, said that investigators in the joint terrorist team in New South Wales believed the convoy “part of a fabricated terrorist plot.”

The authorities reached this belief based on the information they already had, the ease with which they found the convoy and the vision of the explosives inside – as well as the fact that there was no bombing.

However, the police declined to tell the public that they believed that the plot was fake “out of abundance of caution”, as they continued to receive parties about other relevant terrorist plots. Ms. Barrett said she is now confident that these parties are also fabricated.

A fake convoy conspiracy included many people who have different levels of participation, according to the police. Among them, they were planning to buy a caravan, loading it with explosives and anti -Semitic materials and leaving them in a specific location, before informing the law enforcement of a “imminent terrorist attack against the Jewish Australians.”

Mrs. Barrett described her as a “detailed plan by organized criminals, locally and abroad,” adding that the plot leader kept the distance and rented the alleged local criminals to carry out parts of the operation.

Ms. Barrett confirmed that this individual is the personality of the well -known organized crime. She also added that although there are no arrests regarding the accident, the police have a number of continuous targets in Australia and Foreign Ministry.

Ms. Barrett said: “Many criminals are accused of pushing others to carry out anti -Semitic incidents or terrorism to attract our attention or transform our resources.” She also indicated that the police believe that “the person who pulls the strings want changes to his criminal situation.”

Ms. Barrett explained that criminals in these types of scenarios often benefit from exchanging information in the application of the law for a kind of personal gains, most of whom are about reducing the sentence.

BBC News contacted Agence France Presse to get more details about the suspected agenda for those behind the caravan trick, but she did not receive any other comment.

In her statement, Ms. Barrett said: “Regardless of the defenders of the officials of this fake conspiracy, this has a chilling effect on the Jewish community,” Ms. Barrett said in her statement.

“What is the organized crime you committed on the Jewish community is worthy of denunciation, and it will not go without any consequences. There were also unjustified doubts against other societies – this is also worth.”

Separately, the New South Wales police arrested 14 people on Monday morning as part of Strike Force Pear: A police operation established in December 2024 to investigate anti -Semitic hate crimes throughout Sydney.

The construction of the strike force followed a series of anti -Semitic attacks in Australia in late 2014, including the sabotage of a Jewish school in the eastern suburbs of Sydney and the burning of the Children’s Care Center, which was placed in exhausting and sprayed with anti -Semitic messages.

Speaking to the media on Monday, the police said they believed that all of these incidents had a “common source” with the convoy plot.

“The job of the caravan was organized by the same individual or individuals who were organizing pearl accidents,” said David Hudson, Deputy New South Wales Police Commissioner.

Mr. Hudson also pointed out that “any of the individuals we arrested during Pearl has presented any form of anti -Semitic ideology.”

“It is clear that there are anti -Semitic attacks of a lower nature, and a lot of anger and anxiety in society – we have seen that since October 7, 2023 … I think these organized crime figures have ended an opportunity to play on the weakness of Jewish society.”
