The commercial blame for Ukraine and Russia to break the “Easter truce”
Ukraine and Russia accused each other of violating the 30 -hour “Easter truce” that the Russian president announced on Saturday.
Ukrainian President Folodimir Zellinski claimed that the front line of Ukraine has targeted “more than 2000 times” since the beginning of Sunday. The BBC has not independently verified these numbers.
In response, the Russian Ministry of Defense said it had “repelled” the attacks by Ukraine and accused Kiev of firing hundreds of drones and shells, according to government media sources.
On Saturday, Putin said that there will be an end to all hostilities from 16:00 GMT on Saturday until 22:00 GMT (midnight in Moscow) on Sunday. Kyiv said he would also abide.
“I ask all military measures to stop,” Putin said in his announcement.
“We assume that the Ukrainian side will follow our example. At the same time, our forces must be ready to repel the potential violations of Indian and provocations from the enemy, that is, from its aggressive actions.”
However, in a publication on X, Zelensky said that there is a total of 1,355 cases of Russian bombing, 713 of which included heavy weapons, according to a report issued by the commander of the Armed Forces of Olkrin Olixnder Serski.
Earlier, Zelinski said that Putin’s announcement of a truce was a “PR” exercise and his words were “empty”. He also accused the Kremlin of trying to create “a general impression of the ceasefire.”
The president said: “This Easter has clearly proven that the only source of this war, and the reason that it continues is, is Russia.”
The Russian Ministry of Defense insisted that its forces “noticed the accuracy of the ceasefire.”
The “Easter Extrue” announcement came shortly after US President Donald Trump threatened to “pass” in the additional brokerage of Russia’s peace talks or Ukraine.
Ukraine said it will be ready to extend the truce, which is scheduled to end in midnight local time tonight (22:00 GMT).
There were mixed reactions about a 30 -hour truce of Ukrainians who attended Easter services in Kiev and Donetsk, which was occupied by Russian on Sunday.
“I don’t think this man [Putin] “She has any relationship with humanity,” said lawyer Olina Boubrich, a 45 -year -old lawyer.
Meanwhile, in Donetsk, where most of the city has been under Russian control since 2014, the residents have expressed similar lack of confidence that Zelinski will adhere to the conditions of the ceasefire.
“I watched closely [Zelensky’s] “There was nothing about the ceasefire … only some mysterious phrases, and not to give any confidence that we will not do,” said Vladimir, who attended the morning service in Donetsk.
On Sunday, the British government described the proposal ceasefire as “a single day trick”, saying that the demand truce included “violations, including the killing and wounding of the most innocent Ukrainian.”
The statement issued by the Commonwealth and Foreign Development Office (FCDO) said that the truce is equipped with a “former fake cease -fire style” and instead, he called for a 30 -day stop in the fighting, as suggested by Ukraine.
“As it was always, we do not see any evidence that President Putin is seriously preparing for peace,” said a FCDO statement.
Both Russia and Ukraine accused each other of violating the ceasefire. Putin announced a one -day ceasefire in Ukraine until midnight Moscow time (2100 GMT) on Sunday.
Russia launched a widespread invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022. It is estimated that hundreds of thousands of people – the vast majority of them – were killed or wounded in all sides.
The United States was talking directly to Russia as part of its efforts to end the war, but it struggled to make great progress.
Last month, Moscow reached a long list of conditions in response to a full and unconditional ceasefire that the United States and Ukraine approved.
On Friday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the United States “will not continue in this endeavor for weeks and consecutive months,” as “other priorities to focus on them were.”
“We need to determine very quickly now – and I am talking about the issue of days – whether it is possible or not,” he added.
“If it doesn’t happen, we will only continue.”
