GHF president defends the aid in Gaza after hundreds of Palestinians who were killed near the sites
The head of the controversial and Israeli aid group has defended its work after the repeated killings and the injuries of the Palestinians looking for help.
Johnny Moore, head of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), told BBC World service for the new service, that he had not denying deaths near relief sites, but said, “100 % of these losses are due to the nearby GHF” and this was not “not true.”
He accused the United Nations and other international organizations of publishing information that they could not verify.
the Aid GHF system was condemned by United Nations agenciesOn Friday, UN Secretary -General Antonio Guterres described it as “inherently safe.”
The head of the United Nations said: “Any process of moving desperate civilians to the military areas is not safe in its nature. The search for food should not be the death penalty.”
The Hamas -running Ministry of Health in Gaza says that more than 500 Palestinians have been killed and 4000 were wounded on their way to assistance since GHF took over the distribution of aid.
Within days of GHF operations that begin in late May, dozens of Palestinians were killed in separate accidents on June 1 and 3, which sparked international condemnation.
Since then, the United Nations and relief groups have expressed their warning in reports close to the two days that the Palestinians were killed near the GHF sites, which are inside the Israeli military areas.
Eyewitnesses and paramedics described on several occasions of Israeli forces that open fire to the crowds near the first aid points.
The Israeli newspaper Haritz published a story on Friday, in which the unveiled Israeli army soldiers said that they had been ordered to shoot unarmed civilians near the aid distribution sites, to push them away or separate them.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu refused the power of the report, describing allegations “malicious lies.”
In a statement to the British Broadcasting Authority, the Israeli Defense Army said that “the forces did not teach the fire deliberately to civilians, including those who approach the distribution centers.”
He added that she was looking to improve the “operational response” in aid areas and recently added new fences and banners, and opening new ways to reach the statement of the statement.
For his part, GHF president said, “100 % of the losses attributed to the Israeli Defense Army – the best we can know that is also incorrect.”
In statements during the past month, the IDF said several times that they had launched “warning footage” of individuals who described it as “suspects” or claimed a threat.
“We spend a long period of time trying to understand what actually happened, and if anything really happens and whether there is a way we can make it less likely,” said Mr. Moore.
“In most circumstances, we could not determine anything that happened.”
“People need to understand that it is amplification to kill people who go to GHF sites, and we have no evidence that this is close to our sites,” he added.
Israel does not allow international news organizations, including the BBC, to send journalists to Gaza, which limits our ability to verify what is happening on the ground in the region.
Mr. Moore claimed that before GHF operations, most of the United Nations trucks were kidnapped at the threat of weapons.
The United Nations said there is no evidence of a widespread kidnapping of aid truck. When I told this, Mr. Moore said, “The United Nations is not sincere.”
The volume of aid that enters Gaza It is still not enoughDespite Israel last month partially reduced the siege for 11 weeks, it was presented in March. Experts warned of the remains of the lands on the brink of famine.
GHF hopes to reach a teacher of providing 50 million meals in Gaza, which is less than a meal per day per person since the start of operations.
When clicking on whether the food was really reaching the people who needed it more, Mr. Moore admitted that the process was “insufficient”, but he said that 50 million meals were more than a month ago.
He said that GHF needs to be expanded and we hope to work with organizations such as the United Nations.
“The task is clear. We just want to feed Ghazan,” he added.
On Thursday, the US State Department announced 30 million dollars (22 million pounds; 26 million euros) for GHF financing, the first direct contribution known to the group.
The Israeli army launched a campaign in Gaza in response to the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023 on Israel, where about 1,200 people were killed and 251 others were taken into account.
More than 56,000 people have been killed in Gaza since then, according to the Hamas Ministry of Health in the region.
