Air India 241 confirms on the plane that was killed in its crash with a survivor
BBC News, Delhi and London
Aircraft plane that travels from India to London crashed at moments of takeoff on Thursday, killing 241 passengers and crews, and more people on the ground.
The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner team, which took off from the city of Ahmedabad, in western India, to a residential area, struck the hospital complex and seeking medicine.
One of the passengers survived the disaster – a British citizen who was sitting in the seat 11A and later told the family that he had no idea how he walked.
It is not yet clear the cause of the incident, which Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi described as “tragic behind words.”
Officials have warned that the death toll may rise in what was quickly described as one of the most flying disasters in the history of India.
Air India Flight Ai171 left the Sardar Vallabhai Patel International Airport at 13:39 local time (08:09 GMT), and it was scheduled to work at Jatwick Airport in London at 18:25 GMT.
There were 230 passengers on board, including 169 Indian citizens, 53 British, seven Portuguese citizens, one Canadian and 12 crew members.
The BBC local police chief told 204 bodies that have been recovered so far – but it is not known that the number of these victims were on board or were on the ground.
Pictures appear from the debris scene spread across a large crash area, with parts of the plane included in the buildings.

The exceptional news that someone has survived the disaster had rapidly topped the headlines of international newspapers, as the British patriot, Fishwazkmar Ramish, was photographed, with Yaghir towards an ambulance, with smoke in the background.
“After thirty seconds, there was a high noise … all this happened quickly,” the local media told the hospital.
His cousin, Ajay Falji, said that Ramish called his family to say that he is “fine”, but he does not know the place of his brother, who is called Ajay, who was on board with him.
Thursday’s accident was the first killer incident that includes 787 Dreamliner, which was first presented in 2011.
Boeing said in a statement that he was “ready” to support the investigation, led by the Bureau of Aircraft Incidents in India.
“We are in contact with Air India regarding trip 171 and standing ready to support them. Our ideas with passengers, crew and first respondents, all of whom were affected,” the office said.
American and British investigators will travel to India, where the National Transport Safety Council (NTSB) said it will help the Indian authorities.
The General Directorate of India from Civil Aviation (DGCA) said that the plane issued a Mayday call after taking off.
She lost her connection with air traffic monitoring shortly, she crashed directly outside the airport.

The crash site is located on the medical campus with 10 specialized centers. The BBC described the BBC scenes of chaos, where rescue workers have regained the remains of those who died.
The thick smoke was still escalating from the buildings hours after the accident, and passports were scattered around it.
The additional secretary at Gujarat Health confirmed that the aircraft hit the students and staff employees at the Medical College and the Civil Hospital.

“I crashed into the chaos of the youth house and then bounced into one of the Youth House buildings,” said Dr. Menkashi Barrick in the hospital.
She added that the accident occurred at lunch when many students were in the canteen. The photos show a large part of the plane stuck in a youth house builder, and a dusty deserted chaos hall with paintings of non -dominant foods on the tables.
“Most of the students escaped … but the building caught fire and smoke was very thick. So 10 to 12 students were held,” the dean said.
She added that it is possible to kill many students. The officials said dozens were in the hospital.
Tata Group, who owns Air India, said it will give one rupee – the equivalent of about 86,000 pounds – to the families of everyone who was killed in the accident.
Prime Minister Modi wrote on X: “The tragedy was astonished by Ahmed Abad and our sadness. It is tragic behind the words. At this sad hour, my thoughts are affected by it.”
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and British Prime Minister Sir Kerr Starmer said he is updated with the development of the situation, while King Charles expressed his “deepest sympathy” with all those affected by the accident.
Starmer confirmed that a UK team was sent to Googa to join the investigation, where families and friends of anyone were affected by contact with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
