Founder Microsoft to provide most 200 billion dollars to Africa
The founder of Microsoft Bill Gates says that most of his wealth, which costs $ 200 billion (150 billion pounds), will be spent on improving health and education services in Africa over the next twenty years.
“By launching human capabilities through health and education, every country in Africa must be on the road to prosperity,” said 69 -year -old.
Speaking in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, young creators in Africa urged to think about how to build artificial intelligence (AI) to improve health care on the continent.
Gates Announced He will give up 99 % of his wide wealth by 2045, when his organization planned to end its operations.
He said in a speech at the African Union headquarters (AU): “I recently committed to hiding my fortune for the next twenty years. The majority of this funding will be spent on helping you in facing the challenges here in Africa.”
The first lady in Mozambique welcomed the announcement of his advertisement, saying that she came in a “moment of crisis”.
She said: “We rely on Mr. Gates’s steadfast commitment to continue to walk in this path of shift to our side.”
The US government has reduced aid to Africa, including programs to treat patients with HIV/AIDS, as part of the “first American” policy of US President Donald Trump, raising concerns about the future of health care on the continent.
Gates said his organization, which has a long history of work in Africa, will focus on improving primary health care.
“What we have learned is that helping the mother to be in good health and has great nutrition before pregnancy, while she was pregnant, it provides the most powerful results,” he said.
“Ensuring the child gets good nutrition in the first four years, as well as the difference.”
In a message to young creators, the technical billionaire indicated that mobile phones have revolutionized banking services in Africa, and he argued that artificial intelligence should now be used for the continent.
He said: “Africa has greatly exceeded traditional banking services and now you have an opportunity, as it builds health care systems from the next generation, to think about how artificial intelligence is combined with it.”
Gates referred to Rwanda as an example, saying that it is already improving services using ultrasound that supports artificial intelligence to determine high -risk pregnancy.
The Gates Foundation said that it has three priorities: ending the deaths that can be prevented for mothers and infants, ensuring the growth of the next generation without the need to suffer from deadly infectious diseases, and raise millions of people from poverty.
“At the end of 20 years, the Foundation will set its operations,” she said in a statement.
Last month, Gates said he would hurry to give him through his organization.
“People will say a lot of things about me when I die, but I am determined that” Matt Rich “will not be one of them,” He wrote in a blog post.
The abandonment of 99 % of his wealth still can leave the fifth news of a person in the world a billionaire, according to Bloomberg.
Along with Paul Allen, Microsoft founded in 1975, and the company soon became a dominant force in software and other technical industries.
Gates has gradually retracted the company in recent decades, and resigned as CEO in 2000 and Chairman of the Board in 2014.
He said he was an inspiration to give up money by the investor Warren Buffett and other benefactors.
However, the critics of its founder say that Gates uses his charitable condition to avoid taxes and that it has an unjustified impact on the global health system.
