Melissa Hortmann was killed and John Hoffman was wounded
The Vice President of Minnesota and her husband was shot at their home early on Saturday morning, as Governor Tim and Alzz described as “a act of targeted political violence.”
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emirita Melissa Hortmann, was killed 55 years old, a democracy, and her husband in Brooklyn Park, a city near Minneapolis.
Senator John Hoffman, 60, was also a democratic, and his wife was targeted at their home in Champlin in a related shooting.
Walz said that they were shot several times while they were out of surgery, adding that he was “optimistic with caution.”
The suspect is being hidden impersonating a police officer.
Brooklyn Park Park Mark Broule said that the suspect was using a “emblem and oil” for the police to treat its way to the homes of the legislators, and he was even driving a “police vehicle” car and was equipped with emergency lights.
The director of Minnesota Drew Evans said that the officers received a call at 02:00 local time regarding the incident in which Hoffman and his wife participated.
Evans said another police call was made at 03:35, when the officers were proactively verifying Hortman.
The police exchanged fire with the suspect at Hortman’s house, but he managed to escape.
President Broley said that the police were involved in a “wide hunt” alongside the FBI, Swat and hundreds of police officers. He said that the police took the suspect’s car and believed that he was traveling on foot.
“The suspect or suspects remain free”, but there is no indication of “a constant threat to the public.”
The authorities warn people in the area against responding to their door to a police officer unless there are two officers together.
The Brooklyn Police Administration has released a refuge in the place of a three -miles (4.8 km) radius from the Golf Edinburgh Stadium.
Bob Jacobson, the state’s public safety commissioner, said public officials “targeted in a violent and cheese manner.”
Jacobson added that the suspect took advantage of the confidence that “our uniform aims to represent”, which is “very annoying” for those who wear the badge.
On Saturday, it was a “dark day” for Minnesota, but “we will not allow fear or violence to determine our hatred or how we advance.”
He added that there is an increase in safety for elected officials and others who may be in danger.
Zak Lindsstrom, the nearby municipality of Mounts Views, said that the elected officials had received a “safety alert.”
Walz activated the government emergency operations center – used for disaster management or emergency situations – in response to the shooting.
The ruler said that Minnesota lost a “great leader and lost the dearest friends.”
Hortman described it as “a huge government employee, a match and a giant in Minnesota,” saying, “I woke up every day designed to make the state a better place.”
Walz said: “We do not lengthen our differences in violence or weapons point in Minnesota,” Walz said.
