Samsung’s Galaxy S25 arrives with a better Google Gemini
At Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event on Wednesday, the company unveiled the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra. Google marked the occasion with a slew of Android updates, including major updates to its AI assistant, Gemini.
Starting today, users have access to the enhanced Gemini, which integrates with apps and services across the device. In a single message, you can ask the AI to perform multiple actions across different applications. For example, if you’re looking for a nearby restaurant and want to share options with someone, Gemini can use Google Maps to generate recommendations and then create a message to send via Google Messages.
The company also launched new Gemini extensions for Samsung Calendar, Samsung Clock, Samsung Notes, and Samsung Reminder.
In addition, Samsung has introduced new features for Gemini Livea Google Voice feature that provides a conversational experience. For example, you can practice an important presentation with an assistant and receive instant spoken feedback. Users can also upload photos, files, and even YouTube videos into the chat, making Gemini Live more multimedia and context-aware.
In the coming months, Samsung will be launched Astra Project Capabilities, a real-time multimedia Google Assistant. New additions include screen sharing and live video streaming. These will appear first on the Gemini app on Android and then on the Galaxy S25 line.
The announcements arrive alongside a new side button for the Galaxy S25 series that allows you to quickly access Gemini. With one tap, you can ask the AI to perform tasks like setting a reminder, saving a note, or telling you about an upcoming meeting.
You can pre-order the Samsung Galaxy S25 series today. Shipping begins February 7th.
