One of the officers of the dead and the police was injured in Mallhaus

One person was killed and three police officers were injured in a knife attack in the eastern city of Mulhaus.

A 37 -year -old Algerian man was arrested at the scene and the public prosecutor opened a terrorist investigation because the suspect cried out “God is great”, or “God is great.”

The man was wounded by two police officers seriously, one in the neck and one in his chest. A 69 -year -old Portuguese man who tried to intervene.

The suspect was subject to the deportation order because he was on the terrorist monitoring list, according to the local public prosecutor. “There is no doubt that it was an Islamic terrorist attack,” President Emmanuel Macron said.

After expressing his condolences to the victim’s family, Macron said: “I want to repeat the design of the government and continue to work to eliminate terrorism on our soil.”

The accident occurred in a demonstration to support the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where police officers were in a patrol.

“Horror has seized our city,” said Mallhaus’s mayor Michel Lutz on Facebook.

French Prime Minister Francois Bayro posted on X that “fanaticism has been hit again and we are in mourning.”

“My thoughts are, of course, to the victims and their families, in the hope that the wounded will recover,” he said.

Interior Minister Bruno Retario is expected to visit the scene on Saturday evening.
